REGISTER TODAY - - DONATE TO A RIDER
|
FUNDRAISING
All donations for the VEGAS 650 go directly to the Patricia Manning Foundation and are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. This may be more money than you have ever fundraised, and you may be intimidated by this requirement. However, we want to encourage you to relax, as you will be surprised how quickly the donations add up once you begin your fundraising efforts.
FUNDRAISING TIPS
- Use the resources provided to you by the VEGAS 650.
- The primary resource provided to you is the personal website that is created for you by Active.com. Upon completing the registration you will be given a personal fundraising page, which can be sent to all of your family and friends. These individuals can then visit your page and donate to your effort online. You may also personalize this page so that your donors can track your progress at any time. For complete information about personalizing this page and utilizing it to its fullest extent, read through ACTIVE'S ONLINE FUNDRAISING GUIDE. You may also direct family and friends to the VEGAS 650 website, where they can click on any DONATE TO A RIDER link, search for your name, and donate on your behalf.
- The other way that people can donate to your effort is through the donor forms sent to you after registration. Carry these donor forms with you at all times and give them to family and friends. You may also retrieve and print the DONATION FORM at any time.
- If you have any questions at any time about fundraising, CONTACT US so we can help you through the process.
- ASK!!! Tell everyone you know that you are raising money and riding your motorcycle to Las Vegas to help fund organizations and programs for prostate cancer research, and treatments, as well as patient support for families in the middle of this challenge. You just may be surprised to find how many people are willing to donate.
- Understand that you are not asking for money for yourself. You are asking for money to help provide services and research for Cancer. Cancer remains one of the biggest killers in our world today. The more you know about Cancer, and the issues created by cancer today, the better prepared you will be to ask for people to sponsor your ride.
- Know what you are talking about. Be informed about why you are doing this event. Know your facts about prostate cancer, and what this means to you. Familiarize yourself with the current issues facing prostate cancer patients, survivors, family, friends, and researchers, particularly in your community. You may decide to carry around a little card with notes, or a brochure. There are many reasons to support VEGAS 650 and you should be able to share them with your donors. The sites listed below may offer some assistance with this information.
- Thank your donors. There is more to it than saying please when asking for donations. Make your donors a part of your VEGAS 650 experience. Send them a simple note, a photo, or a postcard from Las Vegas. They will feel even better about contributing when they see what you have committed to making a difference.
MAKING A DONATION
- ONLINE
- Your donors may choose to make donations online, through ACTIVE .com. By clicking on any of the DONATE TO A RIDER links, they will be directed to the main fundraising page for the VEGAS 650. From this page, donors need to find your name under the "view participant pages menu" and follow the prompts toward making a donation. This ensures that the donation made is credited toward your specific fundraising effort.
- For donors choosing this option, a receipt to be used as a tax deduction will be emailed to the donor by ACTIVE.com.
- DONATION FORM
- The other way to have donations made on your behalf is through the DONATION FORM, which you may access at any time. Be sure to make copies and carry them with you . Donors must simply complete the donation form and send it to the VEGAS 650 address, which is given on the form. By using this method, please know that there will be a delay of approximately two weeks in posting the donation on to your online donation page at ACTIVE.com.
- For donors choosing this option, a receipt to be used as a tax deduction will be either emailed or mailed to that donor by the VEGAS 650.
WHAT HAPPENS WITH THE MONEY
All money raised goes directly to the Patricia Manning Foundation. Following the event, the Foundation will grant all proceeds of the event to organizations that participate in the fight against prostate cancer.
